FIGJAM acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the custodians and First Peoples of so-called Australia. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we work and live – including the lands of the Wurundjeri, Bunurong, Gadigal, Ngunnawal, Darug and Wadawurrung people – and pay our respect to Elders of those lands, both past and present. We recognise that this land always was and always will be Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land because sovereignty has never been ceded.

We acknowledge the role of the colonial legal and carceral systems in establishing and perpetuating the oppression of First Nations peoples. We have a responsibility to work in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations to undo the injustices imposed on them since colonisation.
